Bio:
Art Education:
Obtained a Bachelor Degree in 1968 from Western Washington State University majoring in Urban Planning and minor in Fine Arts (which involved both 2D and 3D art). Received numerous Honors in Fine Arts while at University.
My art since university involved personal art provided to family members as gifts. Recently I have undertaken painting of scenery in Alberta in acrylics and/or pastels.
Artist’s Statement:
I have always enjoyed art and am inspired to both draw and paint scenery from our cottage at Sylvan Lake and the absolute beauty present elsewhere in Alberta. The natural beauty lends itself to the appreciation of the visual arts. The beauty of clouds, be it in summer or fall, are an inspiration.
In my semi-retirement, I find inspiration in translating and saving the visual beauty of Alberta.
My choice of median is acrylics on canvas and its fast drying properties.
I am inspired by the simplicity in paintings by artist Cameron Bird and the Group of Seven.
