Ellen was born in Alberta and attended the Alberta College of Art for 3 years when her children were young. After her children were in school she returned to the workforce as a Legal Assistant and did not paint again until she retired in 1999. She has studied art with well known artists as Jack Rigoux, Jean Geddes, Doug Swinton with workshops with Alan Wylie and Mike Svob, to name a few. She is an active member in Federation of Canadian Artists (Calgary); Calgary Society of Artists; Leighton Art Centre and Chestermere Fine Art Guild of which she was a founding member in 2002. She has exhibited and sold paintings at juried shows, such as Western Art Gallery, Calgary Stampede; Federation of Canadian Artists (Calgary) and Leighton Art Centre. Ellen was honoured by having a painting selected for inclusion in the 2014 Calgary Stampede Art Auction. She says she will paint as long as she can hold a brush.
